About Great White
Great White Plumbing & Heating Ltd is a plumbing, heating and gas firm based in Burton Joyce, just outside Nottingham, working in the trade since 2006. We cover the city and the surrounding area and take on the whole range, from swapping a tap to installing a commercial boiler plant room. Rates and procedures are set out with you at the point the job is booked.
Who we are and what we do
Great White Plumbing & Heating Ltd is a limited company registered in England and Wales, based in Burton Joyce on the north-east edge of Nottingham. That puts the city and the villages around it within a short drive, and that is the area we work in. Commercial work goes further out across Nottinghamshire. Customers are homeowners, landlords and letting agents on one side, and commercial sites and contractors on the other.
The work runs from a tap swap or a leaking waste up to heating installations, cylinder changes, gas work and commercial boiler plant rooms. We take on first and second fix on new build and refurbishment jobs, including pipework laid before the screed goes down, and we commission what we install rather than handing it over untested.
We take care in the properties we work in. Floors and worktops are covered before anything is opened up, the work is kept to one area rather than spread through the house, and everything is cleared before we leave.
How we price work
We work on completely open pricing. Before a job is booked you are told the rates and how the charging works, so you know from the start how the job will be charged.
What a job comes to depends on things you can see and things you cannot: access, the state of the existing pipework, whether the parts are stock items or have to be ordered in. Where there is a genuine choice of part or a choice of approach, we set out what each one involves and you decide which way it goes.
If something turns up once the work is open, a corroded run or a fitting that will not take another turn, we stop and explain what has changed and what it means before carrying on.
Standards and accreditation
Gas work is carried out under Gas Safe registration, and we are registered for water regulations. We are also SafeContractor approved, which matters on commercial sites where contractors are vetted before they are let through the gate. Behind that sit City & Guilds qualifications, CSCS cards for site work, IPAF for powered access, and Gledhill accreditation.
Work is done to the current national standards and the relevant building regulations, and anything notifiable is registered as it should be. Where a job produces a certificate or a record, you get the paperwork as well as the work.
For rented property, we carry out the landlord gas safety check and produce the record for the appliances we have checked, so the paperwork comes with the visit.
Accreditations
Registered, audited and qualified
Every badge below is something a customer can check, or something we had to be assessed for. None of it is decoration.

Gas Safe Register
The legal requirement for anyone working on gas in the UK. Every gas job we carry out is done by a registered engineer.

SafeContractor approved
An audited health and safety accreditation, which is what lets us onto commercial sites and managed estates.
Water regulations registered
Certified to the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, which govern how anything is connected to the mains.

CSCS carded
The construction skills card site managers ask for before anyone sets foot on a building site.

City & Guilds qualified
The trade qualification behind the registrations โ plumbing, heating and gas, assessed rather than self-declared.

IPAF trained
Certified to operate powered access platforms, for the commercial work that happens above head height.

Gledhill approved
Manufacturer-trained on Gledhill cylinders and unvented systems, which is what their warranty terms ask for.

Commercial customers
Businesses that keep calling us back
Alongside the domestic work we take on commercial customers, and these are businesses we have worked for โ the sort who ring the same plumber again rather than starting a search.
Common questions
What accreditations do you hold?
Gas work is carried out under Gas Safe registration, and we are registered for water regulations. We are SafeContractor approved, City & Guilds qualified, CSCS carded for site work and IPAF trained for powered access, and we hold Gledhill accreditation. Every Gas Safe registered engineer carries an ID card, so ask to see it on the doorstep and check the work it covers.
Do you take on commercial work as well as domestic?
Both. The work runs from domestic taps, radiators, cylinders and boilers through to commercial pipework and plant room work. Commercial clients include The Pudding Pantry, BCA, Allsop and Sherwood Business Club. SafeContractor approval and CSCS cards cover the vetting and site access that most commercial jobs ask for.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Burton Joyce, on the north-east edge of Nottingham, and the city and the villages around it are close to home. Commercial work travels further across Nottinghamshire. Beyond that it depends on the size of the job and the travelling, so it is worth saying where you are early on.
Do you work evenings or weekends?
Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and we would rather tell you that plainly than promise cover we do not run. Jobs are booked into those hours and planned so the disruptive part happens when someone is there to make decisions. If access is difficult during a working day, say so when the job is booked and we will plan the visit around it within those hours.
